What Is Grief Yoga?

Grief Yoga is a trauma informed, grief informed, somatic practice. Where rather than talking about grief, we create the conditions for your body to process it using breath and movement. Instead of using words to describe your feelings you'll experience your feelings as sensations in your body, and here is where it is safe to release the pain and hurt.

This work is rooted in:

  • Somatic Awareness

  • Breath-based regulation

  • The wisdom of the Koshas (layers of being)

  • The understanding of how trauma affects the nervous system

Grief Yoga is not therapy — but it is deeply therapeutic.

What To Expect

If you are hesitant to sign up because you’re afraid of what might surface you're not alone. Traditionally we have been taught that addressing heavy emotions means an overwhelming display of those emotions. And yes emotions will arise during class, but we use the breath and movement to support you and disperse them.

In each class, you can expect:

  • Accessible movement that supports emotional processing without overwhelm. Classes can be taken from a chair if there is mobility issues

  • Breathwork that uses the lungs as support. As the lungs expand, space is created. As space is created, emotions can move and dissipate

  • Clear, grounding guidance with full permission to pause, modify, or rest when needed

  • A nervous system informed practice that prioritizes your safety, choice, and healing

  • Permission to turn off your camera when the practice begins. This gives you all the privacy you need to feel comfortable

Classes are held live on ZOOM—you need a computer or device with internet access

ABOUT LINDSAY

After experiencing profound personal loss, Lindsay learned quickly that grief is far more than an emotional experience. Beyond the heartbreak came panic attacks, sleepless nights, and a heaviness that made it hard to breathe. She realized her mind wasn't the only thing grieving—her entire nervous system and body were struggling to make sense of what had happened.

That realization changed everything.

Instead of asking, "How do I stop feeling this way?" Lindsay began asking, "What does my body need to move through this?" The answer became the foundation of her work.

Today, Lindsay is helping redefine yoga as a practice for emotional health. Through grief-informed, trauma-informed yoga, she teaches people how to be present with their feelings and reconnect with their breath. Her classes give students practical tools to navigate grief, anxiety, depression and overwhelm so they can begin feeling like themselves again.

Drawing from her background in psychology, sociology, grief education, and almost 20 years of teaching yoga, Lindsay combines science with compassionate movement in a way that is simple, approachable, and deeply healing.
